Manchester United 3 Liverpool 0

Manchester United had successfully pushed their gap towards the top four teams by beating fellow contender Liverpool to a 3-0 win last night. Goals derived from Wes Brown, Ronaldo and Nani had surely cost the Red points as well as the upper hand to further challenge the likes to Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal for the title. Manchester United is now 5 points ahead of Chelsea and 6 points with Arsenal.

What was evident from the game was Pepe Reina's tendency to lose focus despite making several vital saves particularly during one-on-ones with Rooney and Ronaldo. At one time, he almost ricocheted the ball into his own net.

A drama also occurred in the late period of the first half where Javier Mascherano was sent off for pestering the referee, which(as most of the pundits were stating) 'killed' the game for Liverpool. Prior to the sending off, Mascherano seemed inconsolable to an extent that Rafa was forced to calm him down and several officials from the Liverpool team to escort him out of the field. But importantly from the game, it was United's striking force that made everything counts by converting chances into goals; and eventually put United in the driving seat.

Once again, Manchester United has successfully shown that they are up for the title task. Meanwhile in Stamford Bridge it was an all London affair when Chelsea took on Arsenal, the game which ended to a 2-1 win for Chelsea, further deteriorating Arsenal's League position as well as chances for the title.
